Are you passionate about empowering youth-led climate justice movements and ready to make a global impact? The Youth Climate Justice Fund (YCJF) is on the hunt for a visionary Director of Programs (Remote) to join their mission before January 19, 2026. But here's where it gets exciting: this isn't just any leadership role—it's a chance to shape the future of participatory grant-making and capacity strengthening on a global scale. And this is the part most people miss: the opportunity to work remotely from anywhere in the world, preferably from a Global Majority country, while earning a competitive salary of USD 80,000, plus potential cost-of-living adjustments up to 20%.
About YCJF
Launched in September 2023, YCJF is a dynamic force in supporting youth-led socio-environmental and climate justice movements worldwide. With a global team of young professionals from diverse backgrounds, YCJF currently empowers 115 grantee partners across more than 50 countries. Their unique approach focuses on building trust, shifting power, and bridging gaps between funders and youth leaders at the forefront of climate justice. But what sets them apart? Their unwavering commitment to equity, care, and youth leadership, grounded in participatory approaches and deep movement alignment.
The Role: Director of Programs
As the Director of Programs, you'll step into a senior strategic and connective leadership role, stewarding YCJF's programmatic vision. Your mission? Ensure coherence, boldness, and responsiveness across participatory grant-making and capacity-strengthening initiatives. Positioned at the intersection of strategy, learning, and movement alignment, you'll connect field insights, program implementation, and long-term vision to advance YCJF's mission. But here's the controversial part: can traditional funding norms truly support youth-led movements, or is it time to challenge the status quo? YCJF believes in the latter, and they're looking for someone who shares this bold vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Program Leadership: Guide program teams with strategic foresight, balancing agility and focus, while partnering with Co-Executive Directors on emerging opportunities and risks.
- Support to Core Programs: Accompany grants and capacity-strengthening teams, ensuring participatory processes align with YCJF's values and long-term strategy.
- Cross-Movement Engagement: Build relationships with youth movements and allies across climate, feminist, Indigenous, and social justice spaces, identifying trends to inform strategy.
- Governance and Long-Term Strategy: Collaborate on program strategy, ensuring accountability to youth leadership, equity, and care-centered principles.
- Learning and Reflection: Champion collective reflection and adaptive learning, balancing evidence-based decision-making with lived experience.
Who Are We Looking For?
- Essential Experience: Minimum 7 years in program leadership, grant-making, or capacity strengthening, with a proven ability to connect implementation to strategic vision.
- Skills: Strong project management, facilitation, and strategic thinking skills, with a deep understanding of participatory governance and youth-led initiatives.
- Commitment: Passionate about climate justice, equity, and Global Majority leadership.
Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with feminist, Indigenous, LGBTQ2S+, and frontline movement spaces.
- Lived experience or connection to Global Majority or frontline communities.
Why Join YCJF?
YCJF offers more than just a job—it's a chance to shape a growing organization with competitive benefits, including flexible working arrangements, comprehensive health insurance, and meaningful opportunities for impact. But here's the question: are you ready to join a movement that challenges traditional funding norms and amplifies youth-led insights? If so, we want to hear from you!
