Buckle up, drivers! Gasoline prices are on the rise again this week, marking the third consecutive week of increases. But it's not all bad news, as diesel and kerosene see a slight price decrease. Let's break down what this means for your wallet.
On Monday, fuel retailers announced their price adjustments. Shell Pilipinas Corp. is leading the charge, increasing gasoline prices by P0.20 per liter while decreasing diesel and kerosene by P0.20 per liter each. Cleanfuel and Petro Gazz are following suit, with the same adjustments, excluding kerosene, which they don't offer.
These changes will take effect at 6 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, for all companies, except Cleanfuel, which will implement the changes at 4:01 p.m. the same day. Other firms have yet to announce their plans for the week.
Now, here's where it gets interesting. The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) initially predicted a decrease in gasoline, diesel, and kerosene prices, citing the easing of global prices due to investors' focus shifting back to the Russia-Ukraine peace talks. This is a key point, as global events significantly impact local fuel prices.
Last week, retailers increased gasoline prices by P1.20 per liter, with no changes to diesel and kerosene. Looking at the bigger picture, year-to-date adjustments as of December 2, 2025, show a net increase of P19.90 per liter for gasoline, P21.75 per liter for diesel, and P6.75 per liter for kerosene. That's a significant impact on your overall expenses!
