Police seize two tonnes of cannabis in Blackrod farm raid, a significant discovery in the fight against drug trafficking.
In a recent operation, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) uncovered a substantial amount of cannabis, estimated to be worth around £24 million on the streets. The drugs were found at a property on Leigh Tenement Farm in Blackrod, Bolton, on Friday. This discovery is believed to be one of the largest ever seizures of cannabis in the UK, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes.
The GMP's Serious Crime Division, led by Det Supt Joe Harrop, praised the operation's success. Harrop stated, 'This seizure is a significant achievement for our officers, as it not only removes a major source of harm but also disrupts criminal networks, contributing to safer neighbourhoods.'
Two men, aged 27 and 35, have been arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences and are currently in custody for questioning. The GMP spokesperson added, 'Our officers executed a warrant at the property, leading to the discovery of this substantial quantity of cannabis.'
