Kaley Cuoco's journey from child star to adult roles has been a rollercoaster, and she recently opened up about a 'terrible moment' during her first day on the set of Charmed. This revelation sheds light on the challenges of joining an established cast and the importance of a warm welcome.
Before her iconic role as Penny on The Big Bang Theory, Cuoco was a young actress eager to make her mark. When she landed a part in the popular TV series Charmed, she was both excited and nervous. However, her nerves were not helped by the less-than-welcoming attitude of one of the show's stars.
In a recent interview, Cuoco shared her experience of joining the Charmed family. She recalled being 21 years old and feeling a mix of confidence and terror as she stepped into the cast's gallery shoot, a full-day photo session with the entire ensemble.
"Imagine walking into a room full of people you've never met, and you're about to join their 'family photo,'" she said. "That's exactly what happened to me."
Fortunately, not everyone on set was unfriendly. Alyssa Milano, one of the show's leads, took it upon herself to make Cuoco feel at home. She ran over to the nervous newcomer, gave her a huge hug, and welcomed her warmly.
"Alyssa was so kind. I'll never forget that moment," Cuoco said.
But here's where it gets controversial: Cuoco also mentioned that Rose McGowan, another Charmed co-star, may not have been as welcoming. She admitted, "I still don't know if Rose liked me."
Despite these initial challenges, Cuoco's career took off. Just a year after Charmed ended, she landed the role of Penny, which propelled her to stardom and earned her impressive paychecks.
And this is the part most people miss: Cuoco learned from Milano's example and made it a point to welcome new cast members during her time on The Big Bang Theory.
"I always remembered how Alyssa made me feel, and I wanted to pay it forward," she explained.
