The MD 9235 had earned its loyal fan base among engineers for its exceptional performance in challenging live settings. Its ability to deliver crystal-clear vocals, even amidst high on-stage noise levels and potential crosstalk, was unmatched. And when artists moved in front of the PA, the MD 9235 continued to shine, rejecting ambient noise with ease. But when Sennheiser discontinued the model, the requests kept pouring in.
Product manager Sebastian Schmitz reveals, "The MM 435 and MM 445 were popular, but the demand for the MD 9235 never faded." So, Sennheiser took action. They consulted with their engineers and tested the MD 9235 with touring sound engineers, who were overjoyed to have it back.
The secret lies in its innovative design. The lightweight aluminium-copper coil ensures rapid movement, capturing intricate details and maintaining transparency, even in the most demanding live performances. Its cardioid pickup pattern is a powerhouse, capturing vocals with precision while blocking out unwanted noise from the sides and rear. This makes it the perfect companion for artists who own the stage with their dynamic performances.
The specs are impressive: a frequency response of 40 Hz to 20,000 Hz, handling a maximum SPL of 163 dB, all in a lightweight 119 g package. And it's compatible with a wide range of Sennheiser systems. But here's the catch: despite its revival, the MD 9235 might not be for everyone. Some engineers may prefer the newer models for their own unique advantages.
