NEW YORK — Time magazine will announce its Person of the Year for 2025 on Thursday.
Predictions circulated in markets point to a mix of high-profile contenders, including artificial intelligence itself, as well as tech leaders Jensen Huang of Nvidia and Sam Altman of OpenAI. Also among the potential honorees are Pope Leo XIV, who becomes the first American pope after this year’s election following the death of Pope Francis, along with political figures and public figures such as President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Zohran Mamdani, the mayor-elect of New York.
Trump was named Time’s Person of the Year for 2024 after securing a second White House bid, succeeding Taylor Swift, who held the honor in 2023.
About the award
Time magazine has conferred the title since 1927, with editors selecting the individual whose actions or influence most shaped the headlines over the previous year.
