A hidden gem from Led Zeppelin's past has finally come to light. A previously unheard soundboard recording of the band rehearsing for their 1980 European tour has been released on a bootleg CD. This rare find, titled 'Soundboard Scraps', offers a glimpse into the band's creative process during their iconic 1980 tour. The 9-minute track, 'Since I’ve Been Loving You', is believed to have been recorded at the Victoria Theatre in London on June 2, 1980. This release marks the first public exposure of a longer, 85-minute rehearsal tape that has been privately circulated since around 2019. The Led Zeppelin Underground website has been updated to reflect this discovery, initially mentioning a 78-minute tape and later extending it to 85 minutes. The 'Soundboard Scraps' release also includes a 1971 recording of 'Tangerine' in Tokyo, Japan, and a 1973 soundboard recording of a performance in Jacksonville, Florida. The bootleg label, Tarantura Hawks, seems to be a new venture, with this being their first release. The tracklist for the 85-minute rehearsal recording, according to the Led Zeppelin Underground website, showcases a diverse set of songs, including 'Train Kept A-Rollin’', 'Out On The Tiles', 'In The Evening', and 'Stairway To Heaven'. This discovery is a treasure for fans, offering a unique insight into the band's creative journey. Stay tuned for more updates as further parts of the expanded 1980 European tour rehearsal tape may yet be unveiled.
